Atlanta Dream Partners with Cash App to Boost Women’s Sports & Financial Inclusion

A partnership between the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream and Cash App is going beyond traditional sponsorship as part of a joint commitment to advance women’s sports and promote accessible money management for all. Earlier this month, the mobile financial services platform became the team’s official financial services partner and exclusive jersey sponsor for the 2025 WNBA season. But the partners state that their real impact lies in what they seek to change off the court.

Grounded in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of social justice and equality, the Atlanta Dream has long been an advocate for community impact, championing equity and empowering women through sport. Through initiatives like ‘Dreamsgiving’ service events, “Power Her Dreams” youth clinics and citywide school supply drives, the team has continually invested in uplifting underserved communities, especially for young girls. Their mentorship programs and partnerships with organizations such as the King Center further solidify their role as community leaders. In 2020, the team made national headlines when players took a stand for voting rights and racial equity in a movement that helped shift Georgia’s political landscape.

The Dream’s history of social change initiatives reflects a deeper truth about sports: that the most powerful wins happen far beyond the scoreboard. This new partnership is a strong match, as Cash App states a desire to align with a franchise that stands for equity, empowerment and opportunity in a city with deeply entrenched economic inequities. Despite being one of the most economically dynamic cities in the U.S., Atlanta, Georgia, continues to rank among the worst for income inequality. It also ranks as the second-lowest in the nation for economic mobility, meaning children from low-income households have limited chances of achieving higher income levels in adulthood. The partners are therefore working towards a more equitable society through financial inclusion.

The Dream, Cash App and Playa Society unveil first-of-its-kind WNBA statement court on May 21, 2025.

“Cash App shares our commitment to empowering girls and women through sport while fostering economic opportunities within our community. Their energy and creativity in this collaboration have been exceptional, and we eagerly anticipate unveiling more programming as the season approaches,” said Morgan Shaw Parker, Dream President and COO.

The duo has planned initiatives for 2025 that invest in the future, focused on equity, community empowerment and the growth of women’s sports. These include:

  • Youth camps and clinics for girls that combine basketball training with S.T.E.M. education and leadership development
  • Small business support through the Dream Collective, offering marketing tools and access to resources in underrepresented communities
  • Community outreach events aimed at expanding access to financial tools and education

Cash App, known for its simple and accessible financial tools, allows users to receive paychecks via direct deposit, spend with a customizable Cash Card, save and invest, trade stocks and bitcoin and even split payments—all within a single app. It’s committed to increasing financial access and literacy through its platform and partnerships.

Going against the convention that sponsorships are transactional, the Dream and Cash App collaboration hopes to set a new standard in merging business impact with social change. Through this partnership, the duo is “betting not only on women’s sports but also on everyone’s right to be part of Atlanta’s financial future.”
