More about Tandem Young Coach Education
While the number of football training opportunities for disabled youths is slowly increasing in Switzerland and Germany, the education of qualified coaches for the field of disability football is still a rather neglected field. Existing coaching education programmes hardly offer opportunities for disabled people to participate as instructors.
The “Tandem Young Coach Education” programme set up by the Scort Foundation offers disabled and non-disabled youths and young adults the chance to be educated as grassroots coaches in the field of disability football. The programme follows a specifically designed curriculum: The progressive coaching education is flexibly adapted to the participants’ individual abilities, so that it offers everyone the chance to participate.
The training is led by instructors of the Football Club Social Alliance – a network of socially engaged professional football clubs established and managed by the Scort Foundation. Experts from FC Basel 1893, SV Werder Bremen and Bayer 04 Leverkusen jointly educate coaches to work in tandem, which offers everyone the opportunity to take over responsibilities according to their individual abilities, and to get actively involved as coaches within the clubs.
