Bangladesh has a highly patriarchal society in which women’s role in is heavily defined by age-old social, cultural and religious norms, which almost always favour men. Women are widely viewed as submissive and nurturing and are thus generally excluded from participating in activities seen as being inappropriate for women.
Nari Uddug Kendra as a gender and human rights activism and advocacy organization use sports for women’s empowerment, through enhancing physical and mental confidence building of girls to fight against physical violence, women’s leadership and empowerment. Engaging girls with karate Training and sports events and creating the gender awareness and sports to different stakeholders are central in the project theme of “Sports and self defence training as protection method for girls and young women”.
NUK focuse on the issues to rreduction of Gender based violence in the school and community (including family) so, that girls and young women both in the schools going and community girls enjoy free mobility and Girls and young women’s confidence level a became higher to be able to fight against any forms violence against women posed on them and their visibility in sports increased.
