More about Sitball 4life
Sitball 4 Life project uses Sitball, Sitting volley ball and Goal ball to foster positive health and well-being as well as social inclusion for persons with a disabilities in Rwanda.
The quality of life of a person living with a disability is also hamperered by social exclusion and HIV and AIDS.Gaps in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment programs make disabled people more vulnerable to HIV infection than their non-disabled counterparts. Some health professionals in developing countries often assume that disabled patients are not sexually active and are less likely to be targets of sexual violence. and they exclude them from HIV/AIDS services.
Sitball 4 Lifeprogram provides persons living with disabilities in Rwanda with a unique opportunity for communicating information and protective strategies about HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis by providing a popular site for preventative education, VCT, as well as information regarding the availability of special health systems for disabled people. The program also strives to improve the inclusion and well-being of persons with disabilities by changing what communities in Rwanda think and feel about persons with disabilities and what persons with disabilities think and feel about themselves. Therefore, reducing the stigma and discrimination associated with disability.
