ENTRIES SET TO CLOSE FOR BEYOND SPORT AWARDS 2016

The Beyond Sport Awards, supported by Comic Relief - which promote, support and reward the best projects across the globe using sport for positive social change - close for entries today.

This year’s Beyond Sport Summit & Awards, taking place at Here East in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in October, focuses on innovation. To reflect this, the ‘Best New Innovation Award’ has been announced to recognise and reward an innovative piece of technology, curriculum, programming or project that has developed a unique approach to use sport for social transformation.

Other returning categories include the Sport for Health Award, UNICEF Safeguarding Children in Sport Award, Sport Federation or Governing Body of the Year, Sport Team of the Year and Corporate Citizenship Campaign of the Year.

Since 2009, Beyond Sport has had over 2,000 projects enter the Awards from 145 countries, awarding over 160 projects for their innovations and social impact through sport. The shortlisted and winning entries from each category will have opportunities for business mentoring and cash support whilst becoming members of an influential group of social entrepreneurs in the sporting sphere.

All entries to the Beyond Sport Awards go through a detailed judging process. This starts with a review of all entered projects by the Beyond Sport Advisory Panel, a group of experts from the sport and social development sectors, who are responsible for selecting the shortlist in each category.

From the Official Shortlist, the winners are then voted for by representatives from the Advisory Panel, Beyond Sport, Beyond Sport ambassadors and the Beyond Sport Foundation Trustees. The judging process is fully audited by an independent assessor throughout to ensure total transparency.

The winners of the Beyond Sport Awards, supported by Comic Relief will be announced at the Beyond Sport Awards Ceremony on the evening of day two of the Beyond Sport Summit & Awards 2016 held at Here East in London’s Olympic Park, on 19th October.
