MAJOR LEAGUES UNITE TO PROMOTE DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION WITHIN SPORT

At a time of global un-rest, the topic of Diversity and Inclusion has never been so prominent in the sporting arena, especially its role in social development. The most powerful US sports leagues will once again come together to support the agenda of Diversity & Inclusion at this year’s Beyond Sport United taking place August 9th at Barclays Center, New York.

Under a collective commitment, the Commissioners from all the Major Leagues: MLB, MLS, NBA/WNBA, NFL and NHL, co-signed a letter acknowledging that they 'hold a unique role in society. They are the cultural heartbeat of their communities, bringing people together behind a common cause.' ‘With a single aim: to better understand how we can have a tangible impact on the communities and individuals that we serve.'

Representatives of each league will participate at Beyond Sport United to tackle the key issues underpinning Diversity and Inclusion including: gender equality, anti-bullying, disability sports, LGBTQ rights and low socio-economic development.

Supporting the days’ program are Official Partners: Barclays, Barclays Center, Equinox and The Guardian, alongside Official Sponsors: WWE, World Boxing Council, JetBlue and Hotel on Rivington. They will be joined by world experts on diversity, inclusion and sport representing leading clubs, governing bodies, rights holder, brands, corporate organisations and NGO’s from all corners of the globe.

Guests will learn from organizations facing challenges and achieving best practice in real time through fast paced presentations and case studies. The day will promote new thinking and opportunities for collaboration to help tackle these issues.
