The Goal exists to transform the lives of children and youth by providing safe spaces and educational programmes that promote character development encourages literacy and healthy lifestyles through the game of football. Soccer is one of three flourishing sporting codes in our country and the most popular and loved amongst the people we serve.
Most people can remember when they were starting out to read, most people understand the importance of creating safe environments for children to play and develop, most people appreciate and marvel at a good character and these are all foundational but require intentional interventions.
We identified that our children were struggling with reading at their appropriate age, that our community's children really did not know how to build good character and that there were no safe spaces for children after school to play soccer or lay in general. We sue the game of soccer to inspire our participants to become productive citizens of our country through advocating reading and character education.
The Goal believes firmly that reading is a solvable problem and that good character counts.
