More about Nairobi City Stars
Nairobi City Stars (NCS) is a professional soccer team that brings hope to disadvantaged young people through the medium of soccer. NCS' motivation is to holistically develop soccer players to be equipped for life on and off the soccer field and giving them opportunities to be leaders in the community. Alongside our professional team we have the Petra Boys, a youth team that was initially established as a rehabilitation program from boys from the streets and slums.
The Petra Boys program has successfully rehabilitated over 30 boys from the slums and 10 of those boys are now working within our team as staff, interns, volunteers, and coaches. Each week we also host a soccer clinic on Saturday morning where we train 35 kids in basic soccer skills and character values. The head coach of this soccer clinic is a graduated Petra Boy.
Finally, we have a coaching curriculum named TREC that we use to train coaches to be more effective in what they do both on the field and in the lives of their players. We equip them with basic coaching skills, ways of doing soccer events to engage the youth, and how to incorporate whole-life coaching into their events.
