More about Bonding the Police with ordinary Citizens
Our organization uses football, volley ball and tug of war sporting activities as connectors in a conflict situation. In our setting, the police and ordinary citizens who ought to be partners in crime prevention are engulfed in suspicion, hatred, mistrust and animosity hence paving way for criminals to get away with their crimes. When the teams of both parties are playing in the field, the police and ordinary citizens who are players and fans respectively are able to put aside their differences for a while to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses. In this instance, the sporting activity has created an opportunity for the police and the ordinary citizen to mend their relationship so as to make it beneficial to both of them. We are focusing on football, volley ball and tug of war because they are the most loved sporting activities in the community as thousands of community members turn up to watch them. The sporting activities also provide the police with an opportunity to collect intelligence apart from improving their physical fitness so as to serve the community well.
