Over the past decade, the Beyond Sport Global Awards have celebrated some of the most innovative projects from around the world using sport to trigger positive social change.Through the Awards, the Beyond Sport Foundation has been able to identify and support more than 300 organizations, administer over $2.1 million in funding and $8 million in long-term strategic support.
In 2019, representatives from over 40 cutting-edge organizations from 6 continents convened at SAP’s cutting-edge Innovation LAB in New York City for an inspiring celebration of sport’s role in solving the world’s biggest issues. Chosen from over 300 entries into 9 categories, the evening’s winners received over $600,000 in grant funding from the Beyond Sport Foundation in addition to strategic business support.
The 2019 Beyond Sport Global Awards Shortlist covers a wide array of countries, sports, and issue areas with projects including:
- Shakti Girls: using football/soccer to educate girls on menstrual health in India
- Free 2 Run: harnessing the healing power of running to support the mental health of youth in Afghanistan and Iraq
- Dragones de Lavapies: crafting employability and job skill training sessions around sports training in Spain
