KICK4LIFE TO LAUNCH NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM

Kick4Life has announced that it will be developing and delivering a curriculum that provides nutritional advice to HIV positive youth across Lesotho.

Nutrition 4 Life will combine classroom-based, practical and sports-based activities to educate youth about the importance of good nutrition and maintaining a healthy diet. This is particularly important for HIV positive youth in order to strengthen the immune system and to enhance the effectiveness of medication. It will also take into account the significant food security challenges faced by many families, and will cover how to cook healthy meals on a low budget as well as teaching cultivation skills for fruit and vegetables.

K4L Co-founder Steve Fleming said: "We are very excited to be working on this innovative project, with currently very few interventions focused on nutrition within the Sport for Development space. We hope to use our experience through No.7 restaurant and our extensive work with HIV positive youth to create something that is fun and high impact, and which can be replicated elsewhere."

During 2017 the curriculum will be delivered to 150 young people living with HIV.
