BEYOND SPORT’S COLLECTIVE IMPACT AWARDS WERE DESIGNED TO DRIVE COLLABORATION BETWEEN ORGANIZATIONS USING SPORT TO ACHIEVE THE UN GLOBAL GOALS.
Running from 2019-2020, the initiative brought together multiple organizations working collaboratively to achieve more together on a shared issue. Over the course of a year, recipients received funding and strategic support to foster partnerships, share best practices and accelerate sustainable impact to reduce inequality, promote gender equality and address climate action through sport.
2020
- Sport for Reduced Racial Inequalities: This award, supported by the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, focused on addressing systemic racism and inequality in the U.S. The recipients included: AMERICA SCORES New York, Peace Players U.S., Memphis Inner City Rugby and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. - Gender Equality Collective Impact Award: Backed by Comic Relief and the BT Supporters Club, this award invested in organizations using sport to advance gender equality for women and girls in East and Southern Africa. The recipients included: Soccer Without Borders Uganda, Pamoja Initiative (Kenya) and Moving the Goalposts (Kenya). Read more about them.
2019
- Sport for Reduced Inequalities: This award, supported by the DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, focused on promoting equality and helping to end discrimination in communities across the U.S. The recipients included: Soccer Without Borders, Lost Boyz, Inc., The Sparkle Effect, Urban Dove and The Pass.
- Sport for Climate Action: This award, supported by the Swedish Postcode Foundation, focused on combating the apathy and lack of cooperation hindering significant action on climate issue. The recipients included MANTA Sail Training Centre (Vietnam), Protect Our Winters (USA), World Sailing (UK/Global), AEG 1EARTH (USA), Youth Service Organization (Rwanda) and I AM WATER (South Africa).
