BEYOND SPORT GLOBAL AWARDS ALIGN WITH SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

The Beyond Sport Global Awards have opened for entries, calling on any organization, program, campaign, initiative, brand, sports team or league that is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals to enter this year’s awards.

This year marks the 9th edition of the awards, and with that, the 2017 Beyond Sport Global Awards will focus on celebrating, supporting, raising awareness and providing funding for ways sport is being used to help make the Global Goals for sustainable development a reality.

Nominations are open to anyone using sport to take action for the SDGs, with new categories and criteria across all awards giving an opportunity for all to showcase unique partnerships and real impact.

This year’s categories are:

  • Sport for Health and Well-being Award
  • Sport for Quality Education and Employment Award
  • Sport for Equality Award
  • Sport for Innovation and Tech Award
  • Sport for Peace and Social Justice Award
  • Best Partnership or Collaboration
  • Sport for Climate Action
  • Sport for Sustainable Cities and Communities Award
  • Best Corporate Campaign or Initiative in Sport for Good
  • Global Impact of the Year Award

All entries must evidence how they align to Beyond Sport’s Five Basic Principles:

  • Model - Have a structure in place that uses sport as a primary tool to drive positive social transformation.
  • Impact - Lives have been significantly changed by delivering a demonstrable, long-term benefit to those with which you have engaged.
  • Sustainability - Have a sound plan to be financially and structurally sustainable.
  • Share - Practical insights or programmatic elements can be shared with other organizations addressing similar social issues and the organization is a willing and active collaborator.
  • Inclusion - Everyone is allowed equal access regardless of gender, disability, religion or sexuality, whilst also recognising some projects may have a clear rationale for being exclusive to a particular target group.

The Beyond Sport Global Awards ceremony will take place in New York in July, with all shortlisted organizations receiving support in their attendance.
