In a continued effort to support and uplift Black communities across the U.S., NBA legend Michael Jordan and his Jordan Brand have launched the fifth round of their annual Community Grant Program. This initiative is part of the ongoing Black Community Commitment (BCC), a 10-year, $100 million investment to create more equitable futures for Black people and communities, while also fighting against systemic racism.
The Community Grant Program provides funding to grassroots nonprofit organizations that actively advance positive change in economic justice, education, narrative change and social justice. Nonprofits that meet the qualifications can apply through February 16 for grants ranging from $100,000 to $3 million to support their efforts.

“Through the BCC and the Community Grant Program, we are committed to fostering an environment where Black communities have the opportunity to lead, grow and succeed. It’s about taking real action in the places where it’s needed most, and empowering those who are already doing the work,” stated Jordan.
The four pillars of the program include:
- Economic Justice – Expand pathways to generational wealth to Black communities through access to financial literacy and career development coaching.
- Education – Support Black students by increasing the number of Black educators, especially in underserved neighborhoods, and providing access to higher education opportunities.
- Narrative Change – Increase awareness of the role race plays in shaping history to drive a deeper understanding of the consequences of racism in society.
- Social Justice – Grow the Black Community’s social and political capital by investing in and advocating for policy reform to increase voter registration and turnout.
Since its inception in 2020, the BCC has awarded millions in grants to grassroots organizations that address critical needs within Black communities. In celebration of Michael Jordan’s 60th birthday in 2023, the Jordan Brand awarded $2.3 million in Community Grant to 48 organizations across the U.S. The grants are designed to empower Black communities by funding programs that promote their growth and support equitable futures.
In addition to the Community Grant Program, the BCC also includes Institutional Grants and Family Grants, with a focus on long-term systemic change. By investing in both community-level initiatives and institutional programs, the BCC wants to ensure that every generation has the tools and resources they necessary to thrive.
