Special Olympics Europe Eurasia (SOEE) has launched the ‘Celebrate the Exceptional’ campaign to amplify the voices and successes of its athletes ahead of its upcoming World Winter Games Turin 2025. The campaign will highlight the stories of eight European athletes, each competing in one of the eight Games’ sports from March 8-15.
Supported by partners Toyota Motor Europe and UPS, Celebrate the Exceptional builds on its inaugural edition from the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023. The powerful visual and storytelling initiative will spotlight the inspiring lives of eight athletes, each representing one of the SOEE countries. Through dynamic action photography and compelling feature articles, the campaign looks to foster inclusion, increase awareness and rally regional support for the March event.
“The ‘Celebrate the Exceptional’ campaign serves as a powerful tribute to the spirit and talent of our athletes. They consistently challenge themselves to achieve their best and push the boundaries of sporting excellence. Through their example, they reshape societal perceptions towards people with intellectual disabilities and inspire transformative change across communities throughout the region,” said David Evangelista, President and Managing Director of SOEE.
Athletes will be shown participating in a diverse range of sports, including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, DanceSport, figure skating, floorball, short track speed skating, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Additionally, it will provide audiences with a deep dive into the athletes’ journeys, their challenges, triumphs and the transformative impact of their involvement in Special Olympics.
Audiovisual creative agency FACTSTORY, part of the AFP Group, has joined forces with SOEE as the campaign’s photo production and distribution partner. With its extensive media network across eight selected countries and the broader region, FACTSTORY will ensure that the athletes’ stories reach a diverse and wide-ranging audience.
1,500 athletes from 100+ countries will be participating in Turin. By highlighting athlete achievements and sharing their stories, SOEE continues to drive its mission of breaking down barriers, promoting inclusivity and building a more understanding and compassionate society for people with intellectual disabilities.
