Beyond Sport Mexico saw a unique partnership between Cámara de Diputados (Chamber of Deputies), Beyond Sport, the World Boxing Council and Alazraki Sports come to life for the first time to develop best practice on how Mexico can leverage the commodity of sport to create social good within the country.
The event included a series of gatherings across 3 days:
- Day 1 - Welcome Reception and presentation of the Beyond Sport Mexico Award at the iconic Chapultepec Castle.
- Day 2 - An interactive sporting experience on the ground at Community in Action at the Universidad Anáhuac.
- Day 3 - The Beyond Sport Mexico conference at the Centro Deportivo Chapultepec, included cutting-edge panels, inspirational talks, informative discussion and bespoke networking sessions.
Delegates heard from a list of incredible speakers at the conference, including: Melanie LeGrande - VP, Social Responsibility, Major League Baseball; Mauricio Sulaiman - President of the World Boxing Council; Jessica Yavitz - VP, Community Relations, Chicago Fire Soccer Club; Beatriz Ramos - Marketing & Sponsorship Director, Tigres F.C.; Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir - Collegiate Basketball Record Holder & Human Rights Advocate; and Arturo Olivé - Director General, NFL Mexico.
Organizations who joined the conversation included leading global brands, sports teams, leagues and federations, such as: Coca-Cola, NFL, Mexican Paralympic Committee, MLS, UNICEF, WWE, Televisa, Wasserman, adidas, NBA, Club América, International Tennis Federation, El Universal and Liga Futbol America.
Community in Action on the second day of the event took place at the North Campus Sports Fields of the Universidad Anáhuac. This saw hundreds of local children take part in programming run by the NFL PLAY 60 Character Camp, MLB Experience, Tigres por los Niños, Tigres F.C., and also WBC Cares.
A major part of the impact and legacy from this partnership was the Beyond Sport Mexico Award. Transformacion Social Traso was announced on Wednesday night as winner of the award, and will receive a grant of $25,000USD from the Cámara de Diputados, facilitated by Congressman Jorge Carlos Ramirez Marin.
