The Most Powerful Discussion on Diversity & Inclusion in Sport

At a critical time in the US, when news headlines are dominated by acts of violence derived from discrimination and social prejudice, the Heads of Diversity & Inclusion for the US Major Leagues – MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL and WNBA – will come together for an exclusive panel discussion on how they can use their standing to help tackle the key challenges associated with diversity & inclusion.

The panel will be the ultimate session of Beyond Sport United, an annual event backed by the US major leagues that explores how teams can better address issues in their communities. No one is more appropriate to facilitate what will be one of the most powerful discussions on diversity, inclusion and sport, than Richard Lapchick. One of the world’s leading human rights activist and pioneer for racial equality, Lapchick is internationally recognized for his expertise on sports and social issues, often described as the ‘racial conscience of sport.’

The discussion will reflect on the day’s learnings during which over 500 representatives from the world of sport, business, politics and social development will have come together to discuss the challenges in today's society around discrimination and exclusion, and identify solutions and recommendations that could be taken forward.

Through a mix of interactive workshops, practical case studies and expert talks, delegates will not only be asked to discuss the role sport can play in helping address issues, but take ownership of action they themselves can take when the day is done. The diversity & inclusion league representatives will take on board the day’s discussion in context with their own efforts and what solutions they can potentially use going forward.
