TGR Foundation Celebrates Milestone In Education Impact

November 29, 2019

The TGR Foundation, a Tiger Woods Charity celebrated the milestone of one million students impacted by TGR EDU: Explore, a free digital STEM library that offers interactive resources for educators, students and families.

Developed in partnership with Discovery Education, TGR EDU: Explore is a free digital resource library that offers interactive web experiences, lesson plans, training videos and tools for educators, students and families to explore new disciplines and gain skills for a modern and expanding workforce.

The site was designed to provide access to the quality instruction and support that students experience at the TGR Learning Lab and make it accessible to youth around the globe with a strong focus on impacting underrepresented students and communities.

The online lessons have been built and tested by instructors at the TGR Learning Lab. With the resources provided, educators and families are better equipped to discover innovative careers and gain knowledge and preparation to achieve success.

“Discovery Education is incredibly proud of its work supporting TGR Foundation’s mission and vision, and we congratulate Rick Singer and his talented team on reaching the one million students impacted milestone,” said Susanne Thompson, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, Discovery Education.

“Together we are instilling in students the strength and skills to persevere and define their own future, and we look forward to continuing to build on this powerful partnership in the future.”

TGR EDU: Explore made its live debut on January 9, 2017, shortly after a celebration of the foundation’s 20-year anniversary.

“Our organization, programs and events are all designed with students at the center,” said Rick Singer, President and CEO, TGR Foundation. “With this milestone, we are one step closer to our goal of reaching millions around the world. It’s a testament to the work we’re doing to fulfill our mission to empower them through education.”

Inspired by Tiger Woods’ vision of reaching millions of youth through education and the award-winning curricula proven successful at the TGR Learning Lab, the site’s reach grew rapidly.

“One of my proudest moments was the day the TGR Learning Lab opened its doors,” said Dr. Katherine Bihr, Vice President of Programs and Education. “Now more than a decade later, our programs have continued to evolve and reach youth domestically and internationally through TGR EDU: Explore. The TGR Foundation staff and all who support us in our mission to empower youth continue to add to my proudest moments.”

With one million students impacted by the resources offered through TGR EDU: Explore, the foundation is one step closer to its goal of reaching millions of youth globally.

“Providing dozens of high-quality lessons and activities on TGR EDU: Explore was just the first step,” said Eric Moore, Senior Director of Digital Programs. “Starting in 2020, TGR Foundation will launch professional learning modules for educators that promote proven student-centered strategies that empower youth to thrive in the 21st-century workforce.”

As TGR Foundation continues to fulfill its mission of empowering youth through education and moves toward its goal to reach millions, this milestone is a reminder of the strides that have been made in the interest of underrepresented youth and the work ahead of the foundation and its allies.
