French President François Hollande has awarded PLAY International's Playdagogy Program as one of the top social innovations for 2017
The “engage” label is given each year to 30 non-profits and social entrepreneurs in order to help them scale their project.
The early stirrings of Playdagogy were developed in the early 2000’s in Bolivia and Afghanistan. Over the years, PLAY International designed an effective active learning process by integrating a precise educational content directly in a structured sport session.
Participants in France include over 40,000 children aged 6-11 from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, in most deprived primary schools and communities. As an advanced “plug and play” program, Playdagogy has been developed around the key idea of allowing practitioners to freely access hands on material in order to tackle health and social issues in a preventive way.
The engage label comes along with a support package to allow the Playdagogy program to be deployed on the national level. PLAY International will also continue to develop the initiative in Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kosovo and India.
PLAY International UK, powered by Cambridge House, will also run the initiative in London in order to promotion social inclusion.
