"Who Says I Can't": The Incredible Story of Rob Mendez

February 15, 2019

A new feature from ESPN’s SportsCenter tells the incredible story of Rob Mendez, who was born without arms or legs due to an extremely rare condition that affects less than 100 people in the world. Mendez found his calling coaching football, a sport he was never able to play himself. After 12 years of volunteering and acting as an assistant football coach, Mendez finally got the opportunity he always wanted: the head coaching position at a major high school outside of San Jose, California.

The program titled "Who Says I Can’t" chronicles Mendez’ first season at the helm of his own team. The SportsCenter series "SC Featured" documented his journey for over six months, capturing the inspiring and unlikely story of a coach who transformed a group of young athletes from skeptics into believers. The feature debuts on the 8 a.m. ET edition of SportsCenter on February 16.
