More about NASCAR Green
Using NASCAR as a demonstration platform for green technology adoption while also introducing and significantly influencing green behavior amongst our millions of fans by doing so has proven incredibly impactful. For example with the most visible biofuels program in the world, NASCAR demonstrates in a live setting to fans weekly that biofuels are a viable solution without compromise to performance. If it’s good enough for NASCAR, it’s good enough for me type logic amongst fans as proven in our extensive fan research.
The environment has become a focus for NASCAR because it has to be, it’s crucial for a sustainable future and with data proving that our fans are adopting the behaviors demonstrated in our sport, the industry is making a significant impact on multiple levels significantly inclusive of influencing behavior. Internet and social media are hugely impactful direct communication channels for NASCAR Green. For example, the signing event around the 2012 memorandum of understanding entered between the EPA and NASCAR in 2012 for collaboration on a number of key green projects was tweeted to 1 Million fans and more recently the NASCAR Race to Green, a national tree planting campaign encouraging fans and industry to plant trees with the support of the Arbor Day Foundation, was tweeted out to over 1 Million fans.
